A Small Place With A Big Story

Viganj is located on the southern side of the Pelješac peninsula.

The Mediterranean climate and the maestral that blows here almost every day have made Viganj on of the most attractive place for windsurfers and kitesurfers. Maestral is a westerly wind of moderate strength, which is great for surfing, and relieves the summer heat for others.

If you decide to go surfing in Viganj, there are as many as three windsurfing and kitesurfing schools here, where you can rent equipment for surfing, SUP, kayak or bicycle.

For the days when you want to take a break from surfing, you have many options such as hiking on St. Ilija (961 height), mountain biking or hiking. You can see all information (trail descriptions, photos and gpx) on the website

Pelješac is known for its winemaking and gastronomic offer. Viganj and the surrounding villages will delight you with a variety of traditional restaurants and taverns.

Viganj is an excellent base if you want to go on excursions. The Pearl of Adriatic – Dubrovnik is only an hour and a half drive away, Mostar (BIH) is a two hour drive, and from Pelješac there are ferries to the island of Mljet (national park), also known as Odysseus’ island, and the island of Marko Polo – Korcula.

Traveling to Pelješac has been significantly faster since 2022, when the bridge that connects Pelješac to the mainland near Komarna was put into traffic. The nearest airport is in Dubrovnik, a two-hour drive away, and the Split airport is three hours away.
